Feds Order Law Enforcement Agencies to Ignore Drug Use, Criminal Records to Hire Minorities

In the name of holy diversity, the Obama regime wants to force local police forces to accept felons. No, really:

In a push to hire minority police officers, the Obama administration is asking the nation’s 18,000 law enforcement agencies to forgive drug use, disregard the criminal records of candidates from “underrepresented communities” and lower standards on written and physical exams. It’s part of the administration’s Advancing Diversity in Law Enforcement initiative following a string of officer-involved shootings involving African Americans. Key to the mission is the racial diversification of local law enforcement agencies so that they “better reflect the diversity of the communities they serve.”

The Civil Rights Revolution has always been about lowering quality. First, IQ tests had to go, as mandated in Griggs vs. Duke Power. And, as the Judicial Watch report notes, the same warped reasoning has to be applied to hiring convicted felons as police officers. Obama’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing explicitly states that “an employer’s use of criminal background information can violate either the intentional or disparate impact provisions of Title VII, depending on how that information is used.” It’s bad enough that every local police force will have to adjust its hiring quotas every time another boatload of Haitians or Syrians or Somalis comes ashore so the force reflects the community’s shifting population, but they’ll have to accept felons. Diversity trumps tradition, logic, and plain common sense. This is insanity.
