10 States Unite, Threatening Trump Admin. With Lawsuit If Obama’s Policy Doesn’t End NOW

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton formed a coalition with nine other states and threatened the administration with a lawsuit. The coalition demands that the president reverse the so-called Dreamer Act.

Attorneys Generals from ten states are threatening to sue the Trump administration if Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) protections aren’t revoked by September 5. DACA is an Obama-era policy that grants semi-legal status to undocumented immigrants who entered the U.S. while children.

We respectfully request that the Secretary of Homeland Security phase out the DACA program,” the states, led byTexas Attorney General Paxton, wrote in a letter to U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions. “Just like DAPA, DACA unilaterally confers eligibility for work authorization and lawful presence without any statutory authorization from Congress.”

Obama satisfied the fringe elements of his base by securing a path to amnesty for nearly one million illegal immigrants. The DACA program shields eligible migrants from deportation and allows them to apply for work permits.

It’s an ill-advised law for several reasons, but among the most obvious is the fact that it creates an incentive for children to cross the border. Enter America while you’re a minor and immigration rules don’t apply.
