HIDALGO COUNTY, TX (CBS 4 News) – Border Patrol agents arrested a Mexican man near Abram on Thursday, just nine days after the federal government deported him.
Agents arrested 45-year-old Misael Tijerina-Tamez — a Mexican citizen who lived in Edinburg — on Thursday.
“Record checks revealed the Defendant was formally Deported/Excluded from the United States on May 30, 2017 through Laredo, Texas,” according to the federal criminal complaint against him.
Agents also determined Tijerina had a conviction for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana on March 31, 2017, according to the criminal complaint. He was sentenced to 34 months in prison.
It wasn’t immediately clear why Tijerina didn’t serve the full sentence.
Tijerina also had at least three criminal convictions in Hidalgo County.
-On Nov. 13, 1997, Tijerina pleaded guilty to evading arrest, a misdemeanor, according to Hidalgo County court records.
