CLINTON, NC (The Fayetteville Observer) – Two Clinton men face robbery and kidnapping charges in a home invasion Monday, the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Deputies responded to a report of a home invasion at 4:49 a.m. Monday on the 2000 block of Old Raleigh Road in Clinton. They were met by one of the residents, Maria Oppenheimer, who informed them that two suspects were still inside the home with her husband, Rafael Rivera-Bones, the release said.
Deputies began issuing commands for the suspects to come out, and one suspect, Cristhian Gutierrez, 22, of the 500 block of Williams Street, immediately surrendered, the release said. Deputies found the other suspect, Elvis Reyes, 24, of the 300 block of Serenity Lake Road, hiding under a bed, the release said.
An investigation into the incident revealed that the two suspects knocked on the front door of the residence, and when the homeowner opened the door, she was pushed back in at gunpoint, the release said. One of the suspects fired a shot and demanded money, the release said.
