The Confederate Community is in real need of an institutional memory. Recently, many in our community are dropping the hammer on Dolly Parton for removing the word “Dixie” from her over hyped dinner-show, “Dixie Stampede, (Now Dolly Parton Stampede) in Pigeon Forge. Boycotts are threatened, people mad that Dolly Sold out. Well duuuhhhh! Dolly sold out almost 20 years ago, when she removed the Confederate Battle flag from the Dixie Stampede. About 50 people, including my small children, showed up to protest the outrage. A flagging back when – now forgotten. I’ve considered Parton a traitor for 20 years, not 20 days. We need to do better at chronicling our recent history and support www.slrc-csa.org
