Committee casts doubt on their advice to Secy of Defense! IS THE TIDE TURNING?

(SLRC) Lawyers can only do so much, especially in a politically charged case like Arlington. The actions of the American people to their elected officials on Arlington. The Feds must file their answer to our lawsuit by 28 APR. That is more than a month we have to lobby the Congress, the Congressional Armed Services Committee and affected State Heritage Preservation Offices. Yes we need your financial support – but we need to take the time to call your GOP congressman ((202) 224-3121), Armed Service Committee member and State Historic Preservation officer (PM me at kdl@slrc-csa.org for contact info) and demand they stop the demolition of the Confederate Reconciliation Monument” in Arlington National Cemetery.
We did the Arlington ADvisory Sub Committee meeting last week and 30+ people made powerful statement in favor of saving the Monument from the wrecking ball. The full committee met yesterday AND AGAIN it was 30 to zip! 30 spoke in favor of saving the Monument – NONE spoke against it. See video below. After public Comments the committee started asking the right questions. “Why did the Secretary of Defense not contact us earlier?” “This is usually a 2 year process!”
So now is the time to pile on! Tell your Congressman to oppose funding for Monument demolition and have him contact Rep Mike Rogers of the House Armed Services Committee to get his committee to oppose funding for ANY Naming Commission recommendation including taking down the Confederate Reconciliation Monument in Arlington National Cemetery!
