(Southern Legal Resource Center) – Georgia Congressman Andrew Clyde needs our help passing his amendment to defund removal of the Reconciliation Memorial in Arlington National Cemetery.
His Amendment , #174 to the FY 2024 Department of Defense Appropriations Bill, must pass the House Rules Committee.
Urgent calls are needed to go into Washington today, Friday and over the weekend constantly until the vote on Monday, September 11

ARMY CHALLENGED
On 02 SEP, a massive letter challenging the Army on its plans to remove or demolish the Confederate “Reconciliation” Memorial in Arlington National Cemetery was filed with the Director of Army Cemeteries on behalf of 10 Historical/Heritage societies. The challenges are for Army violations of the National Environment Policy Act (NEPA) and the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA)
The SLRC drafted a supplement to the letter today (07 SEP), which was filed with the Army, after a Charleston Post & Courier article disclosed that the Confederate Memorial probably contained a buried time capsule. A UDC researcher found proof of a time capsule in the UDC Archives and not only is there a time capsule — it was placed in the cornerstone in 1912. The Army will now have to investigate the time capsule question, assess its historical significance and assess if demolishing the memorial would “negatively impact” the time capsule. This may not win the battle, but it slows the beast!
