(TNM) – Recent data reveals a staggering reality: Border Patrol agents in the five Texas-based sectors have apprehended more than 2.6 million migrants over the past two fiscal years. This number exceeds the population of Houston by over 300,000 people. According to the CBP Nationwide Encounters Report, the total number of migrants apprehended in the past two fiscal years stands at 2,612,191. This number surpasses Houston’s population of 2,302,878 by more than 309,000 people. In the recently ended Fiscal Year 23 alone, 1,216,501 migrants were apprehended in sectors like the Rio Grande Valley, Laredo, Del Rio, Big Bend, and El Paso.

Since President Joe Biden took office in January 2021, more than 3,576,000 migrants have been apprehended in the Texas border sectors. This number exceeds the combined population of Bexar (San Antonio) and Travis (Austin) counties by over 250,000 people.
