Return to the Battle of New Market on ghostly walking tour

(Northern Virginia Daily) – Step back into time on Saturday with the Spirits of New Market, an interactive living historical event that celebrates the lives impacted by the Battle of New Market.

Tours take place at the Virginia Museum of the Civil War-New Market Battlefield State Historical Park, site of the May 15, 1964, battle when a Confederate army of 4,100 defeated a larger Union army with the help of cadets from Virginia Military Institute on land owned by the Boshong family.

Tours begin at 6 p.m. with admission at $10 for adults 13 and older, $6 for youth ages 6-12 and free for children under age 5. New Market residents ages 6 and up with proof of residency may enter for $5. Tours end at 8 p.m.

Each walking tour lasts approximately 45 minutes and covers approximately a half mile over grass and gravel.
