(Montgomery Co News) – The proud sisters of the Rebel Joan Of Arc 2721 Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, gathered to honor the marker erected in 1956, of our local Texas Confederate History, in Huntsville. Many of these such remembrances are around our great State of Texas for honoring all that was endured during the tumultuous times of the War Between The States, 1861-1865, and all that led up to those defiant decisions against Northern aggression. Texas families were also greatly impacted by the War Between The States, and Texas families sacrificed much for the times they lived in, when many had so little.

It is impossible to put ourselves in the shoes of those who walked before us and their monumental decisions that effected their lives, and liberty. They volunteered to go off and fight and leave their families and property, even in the possibility of their being attacked, in order to go stop the Northern Aggression. They went with only what little they owned, to protect Texas and their other extended families in Southern States. They had no knowledge of what or who would be left when they got back, IF they could get back… Their families had to protect themselves.
