(The Carroll News) – The United Daughters of the Confederacy Jefferson Davis Chapter 2477 held a Bestowal of Military Service Awards for three Veterans. These awards are bestowed on lineal descendants of Confederate soldiers who have served our Country in the United States Armed Forces.
Meredith Benge, brother of Chapter member Cora Lee Testerman, received a Certificate of Appreciation and pin for his service in the United States Air Force in time of peace. Mr. Benge was an Airman Second Class in the 1607th Field Maintenance Squadron and is a grandson of Meredith Jenkins, a private who served in Company H, 54th North Carolina Infantry.
Lewis and Paul Grice brothers of Chapter member Mary Felicito, both received the National Defense Service Medal. Lewis Grice served in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict as a Specialist 4th Class in the 11th Air Defense Signal Battalion. Paul Grice served in the United States Air Force during the Global War on Terror as a Master Sergeant in the Joint Analysis Center, Royal Military Command.
