(New Boston Post) – A construction worker who hung a Confederate flag at a Massachusetts Department of Transportation highway construction site in Fitchburg will not be fired but will undergo diversity training.

The construction worker found the flag left on the side of the road and thought there would be no problem if he hung it, according to USA Today.

Someone who saw the flag while driving past the site posted a video to draw attention to it. “You can’t be silent in the face of hatred,” she said.

The company is Garrity Asphalt Reclaiming Inc. of Bloomfield, Connecticut, a subcontractor working for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
