New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell seen staying at Upper Pontalba Building in Jackson Square

(FOX) New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell, who has been under fire for her jet-setting lifestyle as crime plagues the city, may have also been living rent-free in a pricey, city-owned apartment.
The Democrat, 50, has allegedly been using a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment in the French Market Corporation’s Upper Pontalba Building in Jackson Square as a personal residence. The unit has a fair market value of nearly $3,000 a month.
The mayor’s comings-and-goings from the apartment were the subject of a two-month-long investigation by FOX8 New Orleans, which last week reported to have combed through more than 600 hours of surveillance footage.
The outlet found Cantrell at the apartment nearly every day over a 26-day period, often staying for hours at a time and sometimes staying overnight…Read the rest

Monument film screened in Edenton

(Daily Advance) Over the weekend, a community event was held at Providence Baptist Church in Edenton to showcase a documentary on the removal of Confederate monuments.

(FOX) Sheriffs dealing with the crisis at the southern border are taking aim at Washington, D.C., for declaring a public emergency over the migrants that have been bused into the sanctuary city by Texas and Arizona — and bristling at claims that the buses have turned D.C. into a "border town."
"They have seen nothing. They are not a border town. They don’t know what a border town is," Goliad County, Texas, Sheriff Roy Boyd told Fox News Digital.
Mayor Muriel Bowser on Thursday declared a public emergency over the migrant buses which have been coming to D.C. from Texas and Arizona since April.
