A Huge Number Of Americans Are Still Short On Baby Formula, Nearly One Year After Crisis Began

(Daily Caller) The nationwide baby formula shortage may have faded from the news in recent months, but millions of Americans are still feeling its effects.
About one-third of households with infants struggled to get formula in the past month, according to the Census Bureau’s Household Pulse Survey conducted in mid-September. Close to 20% of households had less than one week’s worth of formula available at the time of the survey.
The shortage disproportionately impacted poor and working-class families. Households with an income of under $75,000 were twice as likely to report troubles finding formula than those making above $75,000. About 18% of powdered formula was out of stock in September, down from a high of 30% in July, according to market research firm IRI.
IRI reported that typical out-of-stock rates for food sit around 5% and that anything exceeding 10% is problematic…

(Activist Post) Global food production rests on soil and rain. Robots don’t change that.
Of all the modern-day miracles, the least appreciated is the incredible abundance of low-cost food in the U.S. and other developed countries. The era of cheap food is ending, for a variety of mutually reinforcing reasons.
We’ve become so dependent on industrial-scale agriculture fueled by diesel that we’ve forgotten that when it comes to producing food, “every little bit helps”–even small backyards / greenhouses can provide meaningful quantities of food and satisfaction.
Virtually every temperate terroir/micro-climate is suitable for raising some plants, herbs, trees and animals. (Terroir includes everything about a specific place: the soil type, the climate variations, sun exposure, the bacteria in the soil, everything.)
We’ve forgotten that cities once raised much of the food consumed by residents within the city limits. Small plots of land, rooftop gardens, backyard chicken coops, etc. can add up when they are encouraged rather than discouraged…Read the rest

How to Stockpile Foods With a Long Shelf Life

(Everywhere else they call prepping nuts and paranoia. Down South we call it getting ready for hurricane season and ice storms. With the treat of civil unrest with every traffic stop and bare-shelves biden in charge, it’s more important now than ever- DD)

(NOQ Report) It behooves most Americans to start building up a personal food supply if they haven’t already. Some are new to the process, so here are some tips on how to get started.
For today’s (long overdue) episode of Late Prepper, I referenced the article below by Kevin Hughes at Natural News. As I noted in the show, I don’t completely agree with everything that’s in the article but it’s a good starting point, especially for those who are truly late to the game. Here’s my show followed by Kevin’s article…
Stockpiling foods that can last for weeks or years is not just a smart way of beating rising food costs. It can also help you save money and be prepared for emergencies.
In the event of a long power outage, having even a small supply of long-shelf life foods, such as dry goods, canned goods and freeze-dried foods, can make a big difference. You’ll also be grateful to have a little extra food at home when you get sick and can’t go out to buy groceries. Because of inflation and rising food prices, keeping shelf-stable foods is a good investment.
Don’t get caught unprepared as things go south. Order a case of five life-saving antibiotics prescribed directly to you by board certified physicians. Use promo code “RUCKER10” for $10 off. Having an emergency supply of antibiotics is crucial before the crap hits the fan.

U.S. Food Production Just Keeps Getting Slammed by One Disaster After Another

(NOQ Report) You have probably noticed that food prices just keep going up at the grocery store. Many people believe that this is just a temporary phenomenon, and those people would be wrong. In fact, things are really going to start going haywire when a lot of the food that is supposed to be on our store shelves in 2023 doesn’t show up. Of course the reason that food isn’t going to be there is because it isn’t being grown in 2022. This summer, food production in the United States is constantly being slammed by one disaster after another. Sadly, most Americans still don’t understand that this is going to deeply affect all of us in the months ahead.
Let me start my discussion by talking about the endless drought that is scorching crops all over the western half of the nation.
At this point, it is becoming clear that corn and soybean yields will be way down in 2022…Read the rest
