Biden: American Troops Would Defend Taiwan if Invaded by China

(Information Liberation) Joe Biden told 60 Minutes in an interview released Sunday that American troops would defend Taiwan if the island was invaded by China.
Biden was asked pointblank by CBS’s Scott Pelley if US forces would be sent to defend Taiwan in the event of an attack.
"Yes, if in fact there was an unprecedented attack," Biden responded.
"So unlike Ukraine, to be clear, sir," Pelley said, "U.S. forces, U.S. men and women would defend Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion?"
"Yes," Biden said.
60 Minutes interrupted Biden’s statement to report that an unnamed White House official told CBS after the interview that "official policy on Taiwan has not changed."…Read the rest

White supremacists launch threats after bulldozing of Confederate monument, Enfield mayor says

(WTVD) — Weeks after a town mayor livestreamed the toppling of a Confederate monument in his own town, he’s now calling for an investigation.
Mayor Mondale Robinson said he and other community members have been receiving threats from white supremacists since the monument was bulldozed on Aug. 21.
Robinson is scheduled to make a public statement about the threats Tuesday at 11 a.m.
The Confederate monument in question was established in 1928 to honor Confederate soldiers and veterans of World War One.
In the years after it’s dedication, inscriptions have been added to honor veterans of World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War and the Persian Gulf War…
