Texas Fuel Company, now Known as Texaco, was formed in Beaumont, Texas.

• 1798 – Mississippi became a U.S. Territory.

• 1862 – The Battle of Island #10, Missouri.

• 1862 – Second Day of the Battle of Shiloh, Tennessee results in a Confederate withdrawal.

• 1984 – Representatives of the Eastern and Western Cherokee Nations held their first official meeting since the 1800’s.
